1940s Family on Rations: The beginning.....

The events season is nearly upon us so we've spending the last 4 weeks, carrying out a little experiment and trying to live on 1940s rations for a month....

  1. Have just discovered your lovely blog & the rationing one too. As a lover of the 1940's I have always wondered how people with families could relive the lifestyle and whether it was truly feasible! I wonder how much rebellion I would encounter if I were to try on mine :) Am looking forward to following your journey

  2. I've just discovered your blog too and its great. Good luck with your month on rations. If you haven't read it already, I can recommend reading Nella Last's wartime diary. If he'd have known about her thrifty ways with food, I think she would have been Lord Woolton's pin-up girl!!
